Community Harvest - Fruit Tree Gleaning

Do you need help picking your fruit trees? We have a dedicated team of pickers who can assist with your harvest! The gleaned fruit is then split between the fruit tree owner and our community partners. We sell excess fruit, fresh or processed, at the Farmer's Market or use it to make our delicious Great Bear Cider. All proceeds are used to support the gleaning program. Register your trees today.

Welcoming Seed library area at the Bella Coola branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library

Bella Coola Seed Library

Community seed libraries are important for:

  • collecting and distributing a variety of heirloom, rare, and culturally important and climatically-adapted seeds

  • protecting the genetic diversity of seeds in our food system

  • providing public access to seeds.

The Vancouver Island Regional Library generously donated a corner to house the Seed Library. You can take out the seeds during VIRL hours. Thanks also to West Coast Seeds and Ida Eriksen for the beautiful corn tablecloth.
